History

On 21 April 1868 Umberto I married his first cousin, Margherita Teresa Giovanna, Princess of Savoy. Their only son was Victor Emmanuel, prince of Naples; later Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. She was one of the rare young ladies of any royal house available to the despised Savoy royal family in that decade - being a Savoy herself.

Victor Emmanuel III (born 11 November 1869 – 28 December 1947) was a member of the House of Savoy and King of Italy (29 July 1900 – 9 May 1946). In addition, he claimed the crowns of Ethiopia and Albania and claimed the titles Emperor of Ethiopia (1936–43) and King of Albania (1939–43) which were recognized by the great powers in 1937 and 1939. During his long reign, Victor Emmanuel III saw two world wars and the birth, rise, and fall of Fascism in the Kingdom of Italy

Umberto II, occasionally anglicized as Humbert II, (15 September 1904 – 18 March 1983) the last King of Italy, nicknamed the King of May (Italian: Re di Maggio), was born the Prince of Piedmont. He was the third child, and the only son, of King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy and Princess Elena of Montenegro. He served as the last King of Italy for slightly over a month, from 9 May 1946 to 12 June 1946. He renounced the title of King of Albania, which was held by his father after Italy's invasion of the country, and personally asked King Zog I for forgiveness for taking his throne.Than you have the King and I.
